Holiday Cheer
This week’s Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge is a Picture Perfect challenge. I was inspired by the hanging ornaments in the photo and created a winter scene incorporating ornaments as one element in the scene.
My card uses stamps from four different Paper Smooches sets. I love how PS sets work so well together! I started off with the solid tree image from the Fanciful Fall set. It’s stamped in brown pigment ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I added the ornaments in red and silver inks, then heat embossed them, too. The ornament is actually a balloon image from the Birthday Sampler set. Flipped upside down, it makes a perfect ornament, doesn’t it? I used a fine tipped black pen to add strings connecting the ornaments to the tree branch.
After stamping and heat embossing a few snowflakes from the Swanky Snowdudes set around the tree, I inked the panel with blue distress ink to create a sky backdrop. The ground is made from a pair of torn edge shimmery white cardstock strips. They’re layered to look like snowbanks. I stamped the “holiday cheer” sentiment from the Christmas Sampler set at the bottom of the panel in red ink and heat embossed it, then set the panel on a cheery red card base.
