TCP Tuesday-Signed, Sealed, Delivered
The theme for this month’s TCP Tuesday challenge is “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.” Alma is challenging us to make a giftie to give and then to go a step further and package it up pretty. I made a star themed holiday gift set using TCP’s stamps and CutUps dies.
The gift I created is a simple 3-D star ornament using the CutUps 3x3 Stars die. I cut three large stars and two medium stars from glitter cardstock to use for the ornament. Each of the large stars is scored at the top point and at the valley beneath the top point. I folded on the scored marks and glued the stars together using a combination of ScorTape and liquid adhesive. A piece of clear filament fishing line is sandwiched between the pieces. The filament is what’s used to hang the ornament—and to hold the smaller star that floats inside the opening in the larger stars in place. Once the adhesive on the larger stars was set, I added those two smaller stars in the middle with the same glue combination. A clear crystal at the center of each small star adds even more sparkle. The ornament is super sparkly IRL. My photo doesn’t do it justice!
I didn’t want to squish my pretty ornament inside a package, so I decided to use it as embellishment for another package instead. I made my own gift bag from some parchment paper I found at the grocery store. The bag holds a pair of peppermint bark candies. I folded the parchment around the candies, then used my sewing machine to stitch the sides closed. The top of the bag is decorated with a strip of striped patterned paper edged with a silver star strip cut with one of the CutUps Holiday Toppers dies. Once that was in place, I used my sewing machine to stitch the bag shut. I stamped the “Ho! Ho! Ho!” sentiment from the Simply Holiday set on a red banner strip die cut with one of the dies from CutUps Easy Rosette die set and adhered that to the top of the bag. I used a glue dot to attach a piece of red knotted ribbon to the end of the banner strip along with the ornament.
I finished off the gift set with a card. The layout is based on the current sketch from the Clean and Simple Stamping blog. I used the same CutUps Holiday Toppers die to cut two more star strips from silver paper. I adhered them to the top and bottom of a white strip edged with narrow red strips. The “be jolly, by golly” sentiment from the Peace, Joy, and Penguins set is stamped in red ink on the white panel. I used foam tape to set the piece on a white panel, then layered it on a red card base. I added a few red and silver sequins around the edge of the sentiment panel for a festive sparkle.
