Here’s my card for the new My Favorite Things monthly color inspiration challenge. This month’s colors were pink, black and white, which lent themselves perfectly to the chalkboard technique, this week’s challenge at The Paper Players.
I used MFT’s Bold Statements set to make my chalkboard style panel. The panel was cut from black cardstock using one of MFT’s Pierced Rectangle dies. I stamped the “crazy about you” sentiment in MFT’s Whip Cream ink, then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. This is the first time I’ve used MFT’s white ink for heat embossing and it worked beautifully!
The sentiment panel was layered on a contrasting white mat, then adhered to a pink panel with an embossed repeated XOXO pattern. I tucked a scrap of white paper doily underneath the chalkboard panel to set it off from the embossed panel a bit. To fill in the open space at the top of the panel, I added a die cut pink heart with a pink twine tied black button. A pink crystal flourish extends out from underneath the heart, adding a sparkly touch to the chalkboard panel.
Materials Used:
Bold Sentiments stamp set, Whip Cream ink, Die-namics Pierced Rectangle Stax and Hearts a Plenty dies (My Favorite Things); Pixie cardstock (Avery Elle); Basic Black cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); white cardstock, pink crystal flourish, black button (Michaels); pink baker’ twine (Divine Twine); white paper doily; foam tape
