This week’s Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge is an anything goes challenge. I created a farm themed punny Valentine’s Day card using the Green Acres set. Since our days as college students in Wisconsin, my sister and I have had a long running joke about sending each other cow themed cards, so I really get a kick out of the cow and sentiment in this set.
I colored the cow with Copic markers and carefully cut her out. She’s adhered to a piece of blue paper with a dimensional dot. The dimension allowed me to tuck the green patterned strip with the “I love you moo and moo every day” sentiment underneath the cow’s feet. The sentiment’s stamped in black pigment ink for a nice, bold look.
I used red pigment ink to stamp the trio of hearts (from the Sweet Hearts set) over the cow’s head. The pigment ink works beautifully on the colored paper panel—the red shows up nicely even on the blue background. I matted the panel on a piece of green cardstock, then adhered it to a light blue card base. A little non-traditional, but definitely fun!
Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Paper Smooches Green Acres and Sweet Hearts stamp sets, Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black and Memento Luxe Love Letter and Tuxedo Black inks, Echo Park Bundle of Joy-Boy 6x6 paper pad, Sticky Thumb dimensional dots
other: Sea Glass cardstock (Avery Elle); Simply Chartreuse cardstock (Papertrey Ink); markers (Copic)
Just had to stop in and tell you how much I love your card today Lori...so cute with that sweet cow. I love the color combination and I laughed when I read about your running joke with your sister. That sounds like a lot of fun!
