Celebrate Your Day
Here's my card for February's first Viva la Verve sketch. At first, I had a hard time figuring out how to tackle the sketch, but once I thought it out, I was able to put this birthday card together pretty quickly. I also incorporated the color challenge provided with the sketch--red, pink, and gray.
I used a trio of poppies stamped with Verve's Poppy Birthday set for my focal image. The poppies were stamped in Memento Luxe inks, then die cut with the matching Build a Poppy dies. I used foam tape to arrange them on a white panel, then stamped the "celebrate your day" sentiment in the open space beneath them in gray ink.
I dug through my patterned paper collection to find a pair of papers to use for the two panels behind the image. After some consideration, I settled on a gray dot and a pink on pink pattern. The panels are adhered to a light gray card base and topped with a strip of wide red ribbon at the middle. I cut a paper doily into quarters and tucked two of the quarters underneath the edge of the ribbon before adding the image panel on top. The doilies make a pretty, feminine frame for the image.
Materials Used:
Poppy Birthday stamp set, Build a Poppy dies (Verve Stamps); Memento Luxe Love Letter, Gray Flannel, and Tuxedo Black inks (Tsukineko); Grout Gray cardstock (My Favorite Things); white cardstock (Michaels); Style Essentials-Light Pink Quatrefoil designer paper (Echo Park); Stationery-Mushroom designer paper (Lily Bee Design); red ribbon; white paper doily; foam tape
