Color Throwdown 281-Happy Bird-day

It’s time for another Color Throwdown! Monika is our hostess this week and she’s shared a gorgeous color combination with us based on a photo of a fiery sunset—Tangerine Tango, So Saffron, and Black.

Happy Bird-day-designed by Lori Tecler-Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Paper SmoochesI put together a fun and cute birthday card using the colors along with a neutral kraft background. The layout is from this week’s Paper Smooches SPARKS designer drafts challenge. My focal image is the cute birdie from the Paper Smooches Birthday Buddies stamp set. The bird was colored with Copic markers and cut out, then adhered to a piece of star patterned paper using a dimensional dot. I accented the image with a trio of white enamel dots.

After attaching the panel to a kraft card base, I ran strips of orange and yellow cardstock and a strip of orange dotted patterned paper along the panel’s edges. The strips frame the image nicely—and aren’t something I would have thought to try on my own! The set’s “happy bird-day” sentiment” was stamped beneath the torn edge of the patterned paper panel in black pigment ink.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD281.

Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team, our February guestie, Nicole Nastali, and our Guest Star Stamper, Christine Dring. Thanks so much to Nicole for joining us as our guestie this month—we’ve loved seeing her creations each week!
