Big, Bold Birthday
This week’s blogger challenge theme is birthdays. I used this week’s Mojo Monday sketch and stamps from Winnie and Walter to put this birthday design together.
Once again, I turned to my stash of 12x12 paper that I’ve been trying to work my way through as a starting point. I designed the card around the pretty chevron patterned paper that I used for the large panel on the cardfront. It was an almost perfect match for the mint cardstock I used for the card base. The patterned paper was edged with teal cardstock to set it off from the mint background. I really like this color combo—and it’s definitely one I wouldn’t have come up with on my own without the paper!
I stamped the “happy birthday to you” sentiment from Winnie and Walter’s The Big, the Bold, and The Happy set in silver ink on a teal circle, then heat embossed it in silver for extra sparkle. I wish I’d spaced the “happy” and the rest of the sentiment a little bit differently—they look closer together than I’d have liked them to be. The embossed circle was layered on a white paper doily, then adhered to the center of the patterned paper panel. I added a pair of die cut stars to the right side as an accent. A few silver sequins around the stars complete the design.
Materials Used:
The Big, the Bold, and the Happy stamp set (Winnie and Walter); Encore Silver ink (Tsukineko); Tropical Teal cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Spearmint cardstock (My Favorite Things); silver paper (Target); So Sophie “Family Ties” Giving Floral designer paper (My Mind’s Eye); stitched star dies (Lil’ Inker Designs); circle die (Spellbinders); silver sequins (Treehouse Studio); white paper doily; foam tape
