You're the Best

Here's my card for the current AEI♥U Mother's Day themed challenge.  I didn’t have any “mom” themed stamps in my Avery Elle collection, so I had to think a little out of the box on this one.

Mom, You're the Best card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Avery ElleI ended up using a combination of stamps and die cut elements on my card. My background is made from watercolor paper, heat embossed with the “you’re the best” sentiment from the Handwritten Notes set and covered with a watercolor wash. The embossed sentiment resisted the watercolors, leaving the text visible. So pretty!

To go with the sentiment, I used my Silhouette SD to cut the word “mom” a bunch of times from silver cardstock. I layered the cutout words, then adhered the stack to the watercolored panel above the text. The panel still looked a little plain to me, so I went back and stamped the double heart image from the We Go Together set near the bottom of the panel in rose ink and added a trio of white sequins, too. I matted the panel on contrasting purple cardstock, then adhered it to a soft pink card base.

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Avery Elle Handwritten Notes and We Go Together stamp sets, Tsukineko Memento Luxe Wedding Dress and Rose Bud inks, white sequins

other: Royal Velvet cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Innocent Pink cardstock (Gina K Designs); Sterling Silver cardstock (Clear and Simple Stamps); clear embossing powder (Michaels); watercolors

  1. Very pretty card Lori. I like your watercolor and choice of using WC paper. I think a lot of us were in the same predicament with no Mom stamps. You and I came up with the same solution :) Nice work!
