Poppy Sketch #6-Love Always

It's time for a new sketch from Poppy Sketches.  For this round, instead of a pop of color, we're featuring a pop of pattern--harlequin!  Our sketch is being sponsored by May Arts and each team member is showing off some lovely ribbon or trim generously provided by May Arts.  My card uses the beautiful adhesive Fleur-de-lis scroll design trim.

Love Always card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Winnie & WalterHere's my card for the sketch.  Even though this sketch looks pretty simple, it took me forever to find something harlequin (or harlequin-like) patterned in my paper stash!  I finally came across this super elegant patterned paper that I've had forever and decided it would be perfect with the shimmery silver trim.

I layered a piece of the patterned paper on some silver paper, then adhered it to a dark gray card base. The "love always" sentiment from Winnie and Walter's The Big, the Bold, and the Happy stamp set was embossed in pewter embossing powder on a strip of vellum, then attached to the patterned paper panel.  I was able to fold the end of the vellum strip over the patterned paper panel, which helped to hide the adhesive I used!

After the sentiment was in place, I added a strip of the trim beneath it.  It's self-adhesive, so it was very easy to attach it to the cardfront.  I finished the design with some clear sequins.  The sparkly sequins are a nice complement to the card's cool greys and silvers.

For more inspiration, check out what the rest of the Poppy Sketches team has created using the sketch.  Here's where to find them:
