The Challenge 8-Sending Sunny Thoughts

I’m always up for a challenge and I'm thrilled that Lesley Croghan has invited me (and a few other amazing stampers) to share samples for her bi-weekly sketch challenge, known as The Challenge!   Lesley is the creative mind behind many of my favorite challenges and I'm so excited to be joining her for this one.

Here’s my card for this week’s challenge. I combined the sketch with color inspiration from the current challenge at The Card Concept to create this clean and layered design using stamps from My Favorite Things.

Sending Sunny Thoughts card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from My Favorite ThingsI colored the umbrella-toting Pure Innocence cutie using Copic markers, then paper pieced her umbrella with a scrap of yellow dotted paper. After cutting out the image, I adhered it to a pierced circle die cut using foam tape.
To make a backdrop for the image panel, I covered a yellow card base with a stack of layered panels. The gray panel on top is heat embossed with the “sending sunny thoughts your way” sentiment. After adhering a pair of fishtail strips near the bottom of the panel, I added the image panel on top. A few yellow enamel dots add a final pop of color to the background.

Be sure to stop by Lesley's blog for more details on the challenge.  And, don't miss the rest of the samples created by Jeanne Jachna and Kimberly Wiener, too.

Materials Used:
Pure Innocence Sunny Thoughts stamp set, Steel Grey cardstock, Die-namics Pierced Circle, Fishtail Flag Stax and Fishtail Flag Layers Stax dies (My Favorite Things); Memento Tuxedo Black and Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black inks (Tsukineko); Basic Black cardstock, black embossing powder (Stampin’ Up!); Harvest Gold cardstock (Papertrey Ink); designer papers (Jillibean Soup); enamel dots (Freckled Fawn); foam tape
