It's time for a new sketch at Seize the Sketch! Our new sketch is courtesy of Vicki and it has lots of possibilities. I made a super summery card based on the sketch. It also serves as my entry for the current Waltzingmouse Fanatics anything goes challenge.
I started off by watercoloring a panel of watercolor paper to make a sunny backdrop. Once the panel dried, I added a pair of torn kraft cardstock strips at the bottom to make a sandy beach. The torn edges of the strips were swiped with white pigment ink to give it a more sand-like appearance. After the sand was in place, I stamped the palm tree image from the Waltzingmouse Stamps My Island set on top in black ink. I then managed to drop the ink pad, smearing black ink over my table, a drawer unit, and the carpet. Lovely, right?
After a brief pause to clean up the inky mess, I adhered the image panel to a golden yellow card base that I'd covered with a text patterned paper panel and an angled strip of matching golden yellow cardstock. I arranged things carefully so that you can see the highlighted white text that reads "summer time is the best time." The "mahalo" sentiment was stamped in orange ink on the yellow panel, right next to the edge of the image panel.
