You Are My Sunshine

Here's my card for the current sketch challenge at Waltzingmouse Fanatics.  Unfortunately, this is one of those projects that looked much better in my head than it did on paper.

You Are My Sunshine card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Waltzingmouse StampsI used a pinking circle die cut topped with a piece of polka dotted patterned paper topped to make a sun to set in the corner of my blue card base.  The starry sky was made with a star stencil and some silver embossing paste.

While the embossing paste dried, I used a fishtail flag die to do some creative cutting to make the little pointy pieces that run across the bottom of the card.  I tried navy blue first, but didn't like how that looked at all, then moved on to the red you see here.  I adhered the pieces across the bottom of the cardfront, then stamped the "you are my sunshine" sentiment from the Waltzingmouse Stamps Half Pint Heroes set above them in silver ink.  It really doesn't show up well  in the photo and I probably should have heat embossed it, but it's too late now . . .

Materials Used:
Half Pint Heroes stamp set (Waltzingmouse Stamps); Delicata Silvery Shimmer ink (IMAGINE Crafts/Tsukineko); silver embossing paste (Dreamweaver); Brocade Blue and Real Red cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Lemon Tart cardstock and Lemon Tart patterned paper (Papertrey Ink); circle and pinking circle dies (Spellbinders); Fishtail Flag Stax die (My Favorite Things); star stencil (Memory Box)
