It’s time for another Color Throwdown! Monika is our hostess this week and she’s chosen this lovely color palette inspired by this photo of a sunflower—Crushed Curry, Old Olive, and Pacific Point.
My card for the challenge is keeping with my week's theme of super simple designs. The layout is based on the current sketch at CAS(e) this Sketch. I started out by watercoloring a panel of watercolor paper with a Pacific Point-ish wash. After letting it dry (while I did some prep work for some activities we'll be doing in my kindergarten class this week), I stamped one of the floral silhouette images from the Simple Blooms set from The Cat's Pajamas on top of the panel. To go with the watercolored background, I colored the stamp with distress markers, then misted it with water to get a soft look.
I matted the image panel with blue cardstock, then added the sentiment on top on a banner strip cut with TCP's CutUps Framed Up 2 dies. The "in sympathy" sentiment is from TCP's classic Simply Said sentiment set. I adhered the image panel to a kraft panel, then adhered it to a cream card base.
To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. Just be sure that the challenge colors are the dominant ones in your project. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD307. Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team, our August guestie (and new CTD team member!), Jodi Collins, and this week’s guest star stamper, Beverley Daw
