Sunshine on a Cloudy Day
It was so super cold in my stamping space this weekend that all I could manage to put together were quick cards with mostly die cut pieces--my fingers were too cold for fussy cutting and coloring! This design is based on the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.
I made the sketch's large round panel into a sun by layering a patterned paper circle over a yellow pinking circle die cut. I added a die cut stitched cloud to one side of the sun, using foam tape to adhere it so it would have some dimension. The sun was adhered to a blue card base over a trio of handcut fishtail flag strips. I used a mix of solid and patterned papers for the strips to add interest.
The "you are my sunshine on a cloudy day" sentiment from the Clear and Simple Stamps Cloudy Day Sentiments set was stamped in navy blue ink near the bottom of the cardfront. I decided to add a bit of sparkle to the design with a trio of yellow sequins arranged around the sun.
Materials Used:
Cloudy Day Sentiments stamp set, True Blue Fan ink, Clouds and Shapes: Circles dies, Trendsetter Blue, My Favorite Blue Jeans, Say Yellow to All Your Fans, and Pearl White cardstock (Clear and Simple Stamps); My Girl 6x6 paper pad (American Crafts); pinking circle die (Spellbinders); yellow sequins; foam tape

ReplyDeleteI hope making a bright, sunshine-y card made you feel a bit warmer :) The muted blues really make the yellow pop on this fabulous card. Thanks so much for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.
