Fly By Hello
Here's my card for this month's Avery Elle AEI♥U challenge. This month's challenge theme is watercolor and I have to admit that I'm not too good with watercoloring images, so I chose to make a watercolor background instead.
I watercolored a piece of watercolor paper in shades of blue to make a sky-like background for the plane from Avery Elle's Fly By set. I colored the plane with Copic markers, then cut the colored image with the matching die. I did a little extra fussy cutting around part of the image with a craft knife so that you could see more of the watercolored background behind the image.
For the sentiment, I cut a bunch of the set's coordinating "hello" die from white cardstock and stacked the die cuts together for dimension. To get a shadow-like look, I cut the word from gray cardstock and adhered it to the watercolor panel, then adhered the layered white die cuts on top, offset just a bit. I added a few sequins around the image and sentiment as an accent. The panel was layered on a red cardstock mat, then adhered to a navy blue card base.
Materials Used:
Fly By stamp set, Fly By dies (Avery Elle); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (IMAGINE Crafts/Tsukineko); markers (Copic); Real Red and Night of Navy cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Steel Grey cardstock (My Favorite Things); watercolor paper, watercolors (Michaels); Sparkling Clear sequins (Pretty Pink Posh); white sequins; foam tape
