It's time for another Color Throwdown! It's my turn to be the hostess this week, so I picked an apple themed inspiration photo in keeping with my Teacher Appreciation Week theme. This week's colors are orange (on the red side!), pink, green, and yellow.
I used Lawn Fawn's A Good Apple set and matching dies to make my card. The chalkboard was stamped on kraft cardstock and die cut. I stamped the image again on gray cardstock and cut out just the chalkboard part to piece inside the chalkboard frame. The "thanks" sentiment was heat embossed on the gray panel in white. To get an "authentic" chalky look (which my own kindergarten students have never experienced in the age of our interactive whiteboards . . .), I rubbed some white ink over the panel using my fingertip. To go with the school theme, I added an apple and ruler to the bottom of the chalkboard.
The chalkboard was adhered to a piece of letter patterned paper with a strip of red-orange cardstock across it. I wrapped the cardstock strip with twine before adding the chalkboard on top. A little piece of paper doily was tucked underneath the bottom of the chalkboard for a girlie touch. I layered the finished panel on to a kraft card base.
To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. Just be sure that the challenge colors are the dominant ones in your project. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD341. If you upload your projects on social media, go ahead and use the hashtag #ctd341 and #colorthrowdown. You can find us on Instagram (and on Facebook!) with the username colorthrowdown.
Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team, our May guestie, the talented Tenia Nelson, and this week’s guest star stamper, Vikki Whittington.
