Warm Wishes
Here's my card for the current AEI♥U winter themed challenge. Considering the current scene outside my window, the theme is especially appropriate right now! It's going to be a while before we dig out of all of the snow we've gotten in the DC area since Friday.
I created a snowy scene on a kraft cardstock panel. The trees from Avery Elle's Let It Snow set were stamped in brown pigment ink on the kraft panel. To give the scene a sort of sepia look, I inked the edges of the panel and around the trees with some brown distress ink. The "snow" along the bottom of the panel is a torn strip of shimmery white cardstock. I stamped the trees on the strip, then lined the two images up and trimmed the edges of the white cardstock even with the kraft panel.
To fill in the scene, I stamped the deer from the Storybook set on kraft cardstock. After cutting it with the matching die, I shaded it a bit with Copic markers so it wouldn't be the exact shade of kraft as the background. It was added to the scene using foam tape for dimension. The "warm wishes" sentiment was stamped in brown ink near the top of the panel. The scene was finished with some delicate snowflakes stamped in a shimmery white ink.
Materials Used:
Storybook and Let it Snow stamp sets, Storybook dies (Avery Elle); Memento Luxe Rich Cocoa, Memento Tuxedo Black, and Brilliance Moonlight White inks (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); markers (Copic); Early Espresso and Shimmery White cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Kraft cardstock (Papertrey Ink); foam tape

What a darling card! I wish you could send some of that snow our way to SE Missouri. I would love some of it. I moved to this state back in 1981 and we are just far enough south that we don't get much snow and I miss it. I grew up on Long Island and really miss my NY snows.
ReplyDeleteLove this card. The little reindeer is darling. I'd be happy to send snow anyplace. I live in Northern Virginia and we received about 31" of snow. I'm staying in to make cards today!
ReplyDeleteA perfect combination! Thanks for joining us at the AEI♥U Challenge!
