Happy Bird-Day

Here's my card for the current sketch at Global Design Project.  The Birthday Buddies set is one of the very first Paper Smooches stamp sets, but I still turn to the birthday hat wearing birdie in this set over and over again!

Happy Bird-Day card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Paper Smooches
I stamped the bird image on a matching die cut, then used Copic markers to color in the image.  For the background, I used a stitched circle die to cut a round opening in a pale pink panel. After attaching the colored image to the bottom of the round opening using foam tape, I added the "happy bird-day" sentiment on a narrow fishtail flag strip.  A second fishtail flag strip was tucked underneath for contrast.  I used foam tape to adhere the panel to a card base with a piece of festive dotted patterned paper positioned to fill in the round opening.

Materials Used:
Birthday Buddies stamp set, Buddies Icons dies (Paper Smooches); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); markers (Copic); Pink Pirouette and Regal Rose cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Hawaiian Shores cardstock (Papertrey Ink); So Happy Together 6x6 paper pad (Echo Park); Die-namics Fishtail Flag STAX dies (My Favorite Things); Stitched Circle dies (Lil' Inker Designs); foam tape
