You're Brilliant
Here's my card for this week's My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge. I combined my somewhat loose interpretation of the layout with MFT's Camp Create challenge to try foiling.
My design has somewhat of a school theme. To represent the sketch's panel with parallel lines, I found a piece of colorful ruler patterned paper. After matting it on gray cardstock, I adhered it to a kraft cardstock panel. The "you're brilliant" sentiment from the Watt's Up set was stamped on a red panel in black ink. Instead of adding a fishtail flag strip beneath the sentiment, I added a narrow silver foil strip. The sentiment panel was matted on gray cardstock, then adhered to the patterned paper panel using foam tape.
I wasn't done with foiling on this card just yet! I used a piece of silver Deco foil and MFT's Geek Is Chic Glasses dies to make a pair of metal rimmed eyeglasses. The eyeglasses were cut from white cardstock that I covered with a piece from a sheet of ScorTape. I removed the tape's backing from the die cut piece, then placed the foil onto the die cut. After burnishing it with my bone folder, I peeled back the foil sheet to reveal the foil covered glasses. Super easy! I placed the glasses on the kraft panel, tucking one end beneath the raised sentiment panel. The finished panel was adhered to a coordinating red card base.
Materials Used:
Watt's Up stamp set, Steel Grey cardstock, Die-namics Geek Is Chic Glasses dies (My Favorite Things); Versafine Onyx Black ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); Real Red cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Kraft cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Back to School 6x6 paper pad (Doodlebug Design); silver foil; ScorTape; foam tape
