Hope Your Birthday Is Unbelievable

Here's my card for this week's My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge.  I made the layout's square element into a fun space-themed shaker.

Hope Your Birthday Is Unbelievable card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from My Favorite Things
My shaker is framed with an open square fashioned from a piece of silver cardstock die cut with one of MFT's Pierced Square STAX dies. To make the frame, I used my paper cutter to cut out the inside from the die cut piece. It probably would have been easier to use another square die . . .  The shaker background is a navy cardstock square with a semi circle yellow moon at the bottom. The moon is debossed with circles for a textured look.  I filled the shaker with a bunch of different sequins before assembling it and adhering it to a lighter blue card base.  One of the aliens from the Out of this World set is adhered to the left side of the frame, using foam tape for dimension.  The "hope your birthday is unbelievable" sentiment is stamped just beneath the shaker element in black ink.

Materials Used:
Out of this World stamp set, Die-namics Pierced Square STAX dies (My Favorite Things); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); markers (Copic); Crushed Curry, Night of Navy, and Brocade Blue cardstock (Stampin' Up!); silver cardstock (Michaels); circle die (Spellbinders); Polka Dots embossing folder (Lifestyle Crafts); sequins; foam tape

  1. Hi, just popped over to take a closer look at your card. It's so cute! I love the debossed circles on the "moon." Great idea.
