The Write Stuff
I played along with the current Mix It Up challenge at SugarPea Designs, using both the sketch and elements from the inspiration photo. The photo features a bouquet of sunflowers, but with the pencil-covered container, green apple, and alphabet border strip in the background, I thought a school themed design really represented the photo.
I used stamps from the Teacher's Pet set to put my card together. The pencil and apples were stamped, colored with Copic markers, then cut out and arranged on a small circle. Ignore the fact that when they're placed together, the proportions of the items are totally wrong, okay?? After matting the panel with a yellow circle, I adhered it to a green cardstock panel with a strip of letter print paper along the bottom. The set's "you've got the write stuff" sentiment was stamped on a pale gray banner flag die cut, then added to the card with the straight end tucked underneath the image panel. The finished panel was adhered to a pale gray card base. Yellow was too bright, white was too stark, so the pale gray was a good compromise!
Materials Used:
Teacher's Pet stamp set, SugarCuts Stitched Flags dies (SugarPea Designs); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); markers (Copic); Harvest Gold cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Sour Apple and Grout Gray cardstock (My Favorite Things); Baby-Ring Around the Rosie designer paper (American Crafts); circle dies (Spellbinders); foam tape
