Color Throwdown 420-For My Favorite Bookworm

It's time for another Color Throwdown!   Wanda is our hostess this week with this pretty color palette--yellow, gray, sage green, and light blue.  I paired the colors with stamps and dies from SugarPea Designs to create a card that's perfect for giving along with a gift card to a bookstore.

For My Favorite Bookworm card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from SugarPea Designs
My focal image is the bookworm image from the Read Between the Lines set.   I colored the image with Copic markers and carefully cut it out, then used Glossy Accents to coat the lenses of the bookworm's eyeglasses to give them a glass-like look.  The image was attached to a buttery yellow tag using foam tape.  I placed the tag over a piece of grid patterned paper with a block of light blue cardstock across it.  For the sentiment, I mixed and matched words and phrases from three SPD sets (Read Between the Lines, Bee My Honey, and Teddy Bear Picnic).  The words were stamped on a gray Stitched Flags die cut in white pigment ink and heat embossed in white.  I slid the tag in beneath the raised word image, then added a pair of silver brads beneath it as an accent.  I topped the tag with a green satin bow made with a piece of ribbon from my scrap pile and my Bow Easy.  The finished panel was adhered to a light blue card base.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. Just be sure that the challenge colors are the dominant ones in your project. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD420. If you upload your projects on social media, go ahead and use the hashtag #ctd420 and #colorthrowdown. You can find us on Instagram (and on Facebook!) with the username colorthrowdown.

Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team, our November guestie, Marisa Ritzen, and this week's guest star stamper, Kim Hahn.
