Sending Hugs

Here's my card for this week's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Another image that I colored for this month's Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge is front and center on this design.

Sending Hugs card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Neat and Tangled
The image is from Neat and Tangled's Better Together set.  I colored up the image with Copic markers, then cut out the image with the matching die.  After adhering the image to a white panel with foam tape, I stamped the "sending hugs" sentiment next to it, nestling the text against the bottom of the image.

For the background, I adhered a red striped panel to a blue card base.  Red and navy fishtail flag strips were tucked beneath the edges of the panel.  I edged the image panel with narrow strips of navy cardstock to set it off from the background, then placed it at the center of the card.  The red stripes add just the right amount of contrast and pattern to the simple design.

Materials Used:
Better Together stamp set, Better Together dies (Neat and Tangled); Memento Tuxedo Black and Nautical Blue inks (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); markers (Copic); Brocade Blue, Night of Navy, and Real Red cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Pure Poppy patterned paper (Papertrey Ink); Die-namics Fishtail Flag STAX and Fishtail Flag STAX Layers dies (My Favorite Things); foam tape

  1. She's a sweetheart and looks fabulous with the simple colors and patterns. I like the way you have offset her on the sentiment. Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
