Have a Cool Birthday
Here's my card for the current challenge at The Paper Players. I used a warm color scheme with a cool image for this birthday card using stamps from Concord & 9th.
I colored the large popsicle image from C&9th's Sweet & Cool stamp set with Copic markers, trying to get a smooth blend between the trio of colors I used--yellow, orange, and pink. Once the image was colored, I cut it out with the matching die and added the popsicle stick stamped on kraft cardstock to look like wood. To go with the popsicle, I created a color banded background using the same trio of colors as I used for the popsicle. The wide strips of pink, orange, and yellow were adhered to a black background, then to a yellow card base. I used a yellow panel, also matted on black, to make the background for the popsicle image. Before adhering the image to the panel with foam tape, I stamped the "have a cool birthday" sentiment on it in black ink. It's hard to see in the photo, but I added a wash of clear sparkly glitter to the popsicle to give it an ice-like look. A trio of clear flat sequins arranged around the popsicle image completed the design.
Materials Used:
Sweet & Cool stamp set, Sweet & Cool dies (Concord & 9th); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); markers (Copic); clear Sparkle glitter brush pen (Spectrum Noir); Hibiscus Burst, Bright Buttercup, Orange Zest, and Kraft cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Basic Black cardstock (Stampin' Up!); clear flat sequins (Pretty Pink Posh); foam tape
