Happy Bee-Day

Here's my card for the current challenge at Global Design Project.  I took my cues from the inspiration card's layout and birthday theme to put together this bee-themed birthday card.

Happy Bee-Day card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Paper SmoochesMy focal image is the bee from the Paper Smooches Giddy Bugs stamp set.  The bee was colored with Copic markers and cut out with the matching Giddy Bug Icons die.  To make a background for the bee, I used PS's Honeycomb die to cut out a gray honeycomb piece, echoing the inspiration card's embossed background panel.  The die cut was adhered to a kraft cardstock panel, then the bee was positioned on top using foam tape for dimension.  I combined sentiments from the Bee Mine and Sentiment Sampler stamp sets to create the "happy bee-day" sentiment that I stamped on an aqua fishtail flag strip. The strip was positioned on the kraft panel so it extends out from beneath the raised bee image.  I accented the focal image with a trio of gray enamel dots just a bit darker than the gray of the honeycomb die cut.  The kraft panel was adhered to a pale gray A2 cardfront with a one inch section cut off from the right edge.  For contrast, I adhered a strip of yellow striped cardstock to the inside of the card.

Materials Used:
Giddy Bugs, Bee Mine, and Sentiment Sampler stamp sets, Honeycomb die (Paper Smooches); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); markers (Copic); Hawaiian Shores, Soft Stone, and Kraft cardstock, Lemon Tart patterned paper (Papertrey Ink); Fishtail Flag STAX dies (My Favorite Things); gray enamel dots (Eyelet Outlet); foam tape
