You're the Coolest

Here's my card for the current slimline challenge at My Favorite Things. The challenge theme is beach and I have to admit I have a limited selection of beachy themed stamps in my stash! So, I turned to the fabulous Penguins in Paradise stamps and dies form my slimline scene. I colored up the penguin and palm tree images with Copic markers and cut them out with the matching dies. They were arranged on a background I created by layering pieces of vellum and cardstock with torn edges on a light blue cardstock panel--kraft for sand, dark blue for water, and vellum for the frothy waves. I filled in the scene with a die cut sun and shimmery white clouds. The set's "you're the coolest" sentiment was stamped on a dark blue fishtail flag strip and positioned beneath the sunbathing penguin. I may go back and give him a touch of sunburn on his belly...The finished panel was adhered to a blue card base matching the sentiment strip.
