Color Throwdown 697-Hope Your Day Is a Slam Dunk

It's time for another Color Throwdown! It's my turn to be challenge hostess this week and I've picked colors from a fun summery serving set--red-orange, peachy pink, and aqua.

Hope Your Day Is a Slam Dunk card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Lawn Fawn
I paired the colors with the current challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday. My Father's Day card uses both the sketch and the optional masculine theme. This basketball themed design will be perfect for my dad. Basketball has always been one of his favorite sports--he was even an original Washington Wizards season ticket holder way back when the team was known as the Baltimore Bullets! My sister and I grew up going to basketball games and learned all of the players and basketball lingo at an early age. My images are from Lawn Fawn's new All-Star stamp set. It's been held hostage in my mailbox for a week due to a broken mailbox lock, so I couldn't wait to get it inked up! I colored the images with Copic markers and cut them out by hand, then adhered them to a white oval panel using foam tape for dimension. The oval was matted on a slightly larger red-orange oval before I adhered it to an aqua striped panel over a wide peachy pink cardstock strip. The edge of the oval was trimmed down so it was even with the edge of the panel. I added a contrasting strip of red-orange cardstock matching the mat beneath the image panel to the left side of the striped panel, then the panel was adhered to a coordinating aqua card base. The "hope your day is a slam dunk" sentiment was stamped at the bottom of the pink strip. A pair of copper brads at the top left of the card completed the design.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post.  As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine.  Just be sure that the challenge colors are the dominant ones in your project.  And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD697.  If you upload your projects on social media, go ahead and use the hashtag #ctd697 and #colorthrowdown.  You can find us on Instagram and on Facebook with the username colorthrowdown.  Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and this week's Guest Star Stamper Sue Jackson.
