Friend-ship

As soon as I saw the color combination for today's color challenge on SCS, I immediately wanted to ink up my un-inked as of yet Boatloads of Love stamp set. I got Loads of Love as soon as it appeared in one of the Winter Mini catalogs several years ago and added the adorable add-on accessory set when it became available. I've used the two sets often, so I just had to get Boatloads of Love to add to the collection.

Using these colors was a little different for me. Even though I like shades of blue, I don't use Bordering Blue or Not Quite Navy often. In fact, I had just a little bit of each of these colors in my paper stash. I tend to go for either the darker Night of Navy or bright Tempting Turquoise when I need a dark blue and reach for Bashful Blue or Brocade Blue for a softer look.

I stamped the boats in Basic Brown ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. I thought black ink would be too harsh with these mellow colors, so I opted for the more subtle brown ink. I used the Watercolor Wonder Crayons and an aquapainter to color in the boat and water and sponged in the sky with Bordering Blue ink.

I thought about stamping an image in the boat, but ended up using these tiny muted color Prima flowers instead. I dotted a little bit of Stickles at the center of each flower. The clouds are covered with Crystal Effects. I used the Cuttlebug D'Vine Swirls embossing folder for the cardfront. The raised swirly images reminded me a little bit of waves, so they were a natural fit for a card with a boat.

The sentiment is actually on the inside of the card. I used the word window punch to punch an opening through the top layers of the card. The ribbon is threaded through the opening and tied around the card.

Off to work on swaps for convention--less than two weeks now!!
