Sparkly Snow Flurry

***Blog Candy Reminder/Update: Check this post for a blog candy giveaway to celebrate 50,000 visits to Inking Aloud. The winner will be selected tomorrow evening. Instead of using a random number generator, at her request, my sister Jill will select a random number to determine the winner. ***

I love making glitter window cards. It's kind of funny that I do, since as a classroom teacher, I absolutely hated glitter--it got everywhere, it was a mess, so I never, ever used it on projects. But, as a stamper, I've come to appreciate the value of adding some sparkle. I think it helps that glitter window cards are quick and easy to do. If you want to learn how to make one of these beauties, you can find a tutorial here on SCS.

This card uses the large snowflake image from the Kitchen Sink Stamps Snow Flurry set. That's the image set inside the glitter window. Since the "window" opening is so large, I needed to use more than one strip of clear packing tape to fully cover it. I decided not to overlap the pieces, but to very carefully place them right next to each other. It worked well--the seam between the two pieces isn't visible at all. I used another image from the set on the panel across the front of the card. Gotta love clear stamps for lining up images straight!

The patterned paper on the cardfront is from another of Memory Box's cardstock packs. Memory Box makes some of the nicest patterned papers. I found two packages of paper with fantastic patterns and wintery images at my local stamp store and couldn't choose between them--so now I have both. The little accent pieces on the side are made with a large blue snowflake brad from a big box of assorted embellishments I've had for a while. I fancied them up by adding a rhinestone to the center.

Materials Used:
Snow Flurry stamp set (Kitchen Sink Stamps); Blue Iris chalk ink (ColorBox); patterned paper (Memory Box's Winter Wonderland collection); Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, and Whisper White cardstock, 1 1/4" square punch, corner rounder, mat pack and paper piercing tool, white gel pen, Dazzling Diamonds, dimensionals (Stampin' Up!); giga scalloped circle punch and mega circle punch (Marvy Uchida); packing tape; rhinestones (Walmart); blue snowflake brads (AC Moore)
