Suspension Card & Sneak Peek, Too
I love making these suspension cards. They're really not that complicated to make (I swear that's true!) and they are so fun to give. Recipients are always delighted by the spinning piece. You can find a tutorial for making these here on SCS.
This card uses the big snowflake image from the Snow Flurry set from Kitchen Sink Stamps. I stamped the image in Versamark, then covered it with silver embossing powder and heat embossed the image. I punched it out with my mega circle punch (fits perfectly!).
The suspension mechanism is made with a piece of monofilament fishing line. I prefer using this instead of the dental floss that's suggested in the tutorial. The monofilament line is clear and a little stronger--and I have tons and tons left over from when I was a kindergarten teacher, just waiting to be used for something.
The front panel is embossed with the Cuttlebug Snowflake folder. I swiped some shimmery white ink across the raised images to highlight them. The sentiment is from a soon-to-be released sentiment set from Kitchen Sink Stamps that I think is fantastic. It's done in a really cool script font and includes a sentiment for pretty much every possible occasion. I know I'll use it all the time. You can pick up the set (and a few other new ones, too) at the Kitchen Sink Stamps store on December 3.
Materials Used:
Snow Flurry and Never a Loss 4 Words stamp sets (Kitchen Sink Stamps); Snowflake embossing folder (Cuttlebug); mega circle punch (Marvy Uchida); Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue, and Shimmery White cardstock, Bashful Blue Classic ink, Night of Navy grosgrain, large oval punch, silver embossing powder, Coluzzle, Versamark, Sticky Strip, dimensionals (Stampin' Up!); Moonlight White pigment ink (Brilliance); self-adhesive rhinestones (Joann); monofilament fishing line (Walmart)
