"Chick" Out These Notepads!

I created a bunch of these fun covered notepads using the Hey Chick! and Playful Oval stamp sets from Kitchen Sink Stamps. The cute little chick fits perfectly inside the fun oval images--and the ovals fit perfectly inside of the Nestabilities ovals dies, too. Inside, there's a 3X5 notepad, perfect for making "chick" lists (ha, ha!) and for putting inside Easter baskets, too.

I stamped the chicks on white cardstock, then stamped the ovals, using the placement of the chicks to determine the placement for the ovals. It took just a few minutes to stamp 8 chicks and ovals assembly line fashion and just a few more minutes to cut the ovals out using the Nestabilities and my Cuttlebug. My "recipe" for the chick on this project was layer 1: Barely Banana, layer 2: Barely Banana again, layer 3: So Saffron, and layer 4: Close to Cocoa. This has become pretty much my standard combination for stamping these 4 layer chick images.

I made the notepads in a variety of spring-like colors--blues, pinks, yellows, and greens--and mixed and matched the oval border and the sentiment to come up with a variety of different combinations. I embellished them with a variety of coordinating ribbon pieces from my ribbon collection and some glitter on the flower images.

Materials Used: Hey Chick! and Playful Ovals stamp sets (Kitchen Sink Stamps); Barely Banana, So Saffron, Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, and Bashful Blue Classic inks, Barely Banana, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Bashful Blue, Mellow Moss, and Whisper White cardstock; oval and scalloped oval dies (Nestabilities); clear Stardust pen (Sakura); ribbon (Michaels)
