Warm Thoughts
I made this quick get well card today to send to a colleague who's recovering from surgery. I pulled out a stamp set I haven't used in a while--Like it a Latte. Even though I don't drink coffee, I had to have this versatile set when I saw it in one of the past SU! mini catalogs. I was so surprised when this set didn't make it in to one of the "big" catalogs. The images and sentiment are perfect for a thinking of you/get well card, aren't they?
I used my new cardstock and ink from Papertrey Ink here. I am a sucker for anything in shades of blue, so I knew even before I saw it IRL that I'd really like the Aqua Mist color. The paper is really thick and sturdy so it works well for a card base. I found some patterned paper in a big box of K & Company patterned paper with dots that are a pretty close match to Aqua Mist and used that to cover a lot of the cardfront. I tied the coordinating satin ribbon around the patterned paper. I love that the ribbon barely frayed when I cut it.
I inked the mug image with the Aqua Mist Palette ink. The ink pad was very juicy--almost too much so. The Noir Black Pallette ink pad I have is so dry that I was surprised to find this. Anyway, since I wanted the outline of the mug to be more defined, I shaded it with the brush tip of a marker. I added the steam using SU!'s Basic Gray ink, stamped off once for a more subtle, "steamy" look.
I used my Nestabilities dies to cut out the stamped image and the scalloped mat for the image. I added that to the card, along with a matching Prima flower and a plastic dome floral embellishment.
Now, I'm off to look for one of the Nestabilities dies I used on this card that's now missing. Somehow, it disappeared in the chaos of trying to convince Cosmo the crazy dog that it is really, truly safe for him to go outside in the backyard. I've been trying to get him out pretty much since I got home from work today and I have not had much success. When I got home, my neighbor was building something in his backyard and when I let Cosmo out, the noise of the tools freaked him out (I guess it's a good thing that he's on anti-anxiety medication, otherwise who knows how both Cosmo and I would deal . . . ). So, now as soon as I say, "Let's go outside," Cosmo flies back upstairs to hide from me. In the middle of making this card, I finally caught him and dragged all 65 pounds of resistant dog to the back door and outside. I rewarded him with a treat--and his second dose of anti-anxiety meds for the day. Hopefully he's over it for tonight and I'll be able to find my missing die before it's time for bed.
