Blue and Brown Blooms

I love, love, love blue and brown together. I used that color scheme on this elegant card for Beate's weekend sketch challenge.

I've neglected my Starving Artistamps images lately, so I pulled out one of my favorites for this card. I really like this silhouette image of asters. I stamped it in craft ink on Soft Sky cardstock multiple times, without reinking so the image would be varied-looking. I added a little bit of Stardust pen sparkle to the ends of the image. I put a narrow scalloped strip along the edge of the image panel, under the kraft mat. I think I liked it better without the scallop, but it stuck on pretty well and I couldn't remove it, so it's staying!

The background image is made from a combination of SU!'s Soft Sky Prints Series paper and a piece of Close to Cocoa cardstock stamped with Starving Artistamps's pretty background. I tied a piece of kraft taffeta ribbon around the card, covering the seam where the different patterns intersect. I lined up three small pearly Dew Drops along the right side of the image panel. These add so much elegance to a card.

And while I'm on the subject of Starving Artistamps, be sure you stop by the Starving Artistamps blog to enter for a chance to win the brand new Doodle Factory fairy tale collection. This is an awesome sheet of images, including dragons, a princess, a castle, and a knight. You can see the new images and enter to win here. The drawing will be held on Tuesday, so don't miss out!

And, finally, my fellow guest designer at Starving Artistamps, the talented Barb from Stampelicious, has awarded me the Arte y Pico award. You've got to visit her blog to see the awesome techniques Barb uses so beautifully on her creations. Anyway, the idea behind the award is to pick five blogs that you consider deserve the award for their creativity, design, interesting material and also contribute to the blogging community. I'm honored that Barb thought of me. Since it's an impossible task to select just a few stampers to present this award to (and since I've seen this on most of the blogs I frequent,) I'll pass on naming specific ones. I will say that I am amazed every day at the talent and creativity I see as I "travel" through blogs in the stamping world. Thanks for taking the time to share with all of us!
