Monochromatic Celebrate

This card was inspired by another card that was created by Great Swaps Girls leader Becky Carafa. She used the Stitched Exotics stamp set in one of our recent swaps and I loved her card. I used some of my favorite elements from her card in my version here that I'll be swapping at the SU! convention later this week.

I get bored when I mass produce cards in large quantities (20 or so is the limit of my interest), so I ended up creating this card in two monochromatic color schemes—one red/pink and the other purple. On both versions, I stamped the large solid flower image on cardstock pieces, then punched parts of the flower image out using a 1 3/8” square punch. I embellished the flowers by adding a ¼” circle punch of a contrasting color, covered with Dazzling Diamonds, to the center of each flower. Because of how I punched out and arranged the flowers, the centers were in different places and added interest to the card.

I matched the bold flower images with the bold sentiment from Celebrate Everthing. I also added one of the dotted swirl images from Stitched Exotics to the cardfront. I used craft ink for the swirls—it has a richer, more pigmented look than classic ink when stamped tone on tone. Probably should have done that for the flowers, too! I’m slowly building my craft inks collection, though, and I didn’t have all of the colors I wanted to use, so I ended up sticking with classic inks here.

Materials Used (all from Stampin’ Up!):
Stitched Exotics and Celebrate Everything stamp sets, Regal Rose and Rose Red Classic Inks, Regal Rose Craft Ink, Regal Rose, Rose Red, and Pretty in Pink cardstock, Dazzling Diamonds, ¼” circle punch, 1 3/8” square punch, Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon

  1. Love your creation! So versatile; it could be used with my anything as the focal image; thanks for sharing.
