Color Challenge Couple
Here are two cards (one non-SU! and one SU! only) I made for today's SCS color challenge featuring Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss, and Chocolate Chip. I have tons of Bella Rose paper that I preordered from the SU! catalog early in the summer and I'm trying to make a dent in it, so today's color challenge was perfect for using some of my bits and pieces.
This card uses the bird and branch images from Unity Stamp Co.'s Oh! What a Beautiful Morning kit. I stamped the bird and branch in dark brown ink, then colored the image using Copic markers that were a close match to SU!'s Kiwi Kiss and Pink Pirouette.
I used two different scrap pieces of the Bella Rose paper to create polka dotted panels for the bottom of the cardfront. I wrapped a piece of wide Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon around the patterned paper, then attached the matted stamped image to the Pink Pirouette cardfront. I added a pink Flower Fusion Too flower, embellished with a sparkly brad, to the corner of the image.
The "hello" sentiment came from the Tiny Trinity set. It was just the size I needed for this layout.
Materials Used:
Oh! What a Beautiful Morning and Tiny Trinity stamp kits (Unity Stamp Co.); white cardstock (Xerox); markers (Copic Ciao); Rich Cocoa ink (Memento); rectangle and scalloped rectangle dies (Nestabilities); Chocolate Chip Classic ink, Pink Pirouette and Chocolate Chip cardstock, Bella Rose designer paper, Chocolate Chip wide grosgrain, Flower Fusion Too felt flower, rhinestone brad, glue dot (Stampin' Up!)
When I sat down to stamp tonight, I wasn't planning on making a second card (I'm tired and I think I'm getting sick . . .), but I literally tripped over this stamp set. I could say that my excuse for that is that it's new and I haven't put it away yet, but in reality, it's that my stamp room is an overcrowded mess. Anyway, when I bent down to pick up the out of place stamp set, I thought the flower image from the Live Like You Mean It hostess set from the current SU! catalog would look nice in this color combination.
I stamped the flower image in Pink Pirouette and Kiwi Kiss on a Very Vanilla strip. I used Chocolate Chip ink to stamp the outline images and give the flower a little more definition. Bella Rose paper appears again here along the bottom of the card.
I gathered a strip of Chocolate Chip taffeta ribbon using the trick Shelli showed at the SU! convention and attached this across the cardfront. After I placed the stamped image using dimensionals, I stamped the sentiment in Chocolate Chip on an angle matching the image panel. I decided to pull out my long-neglected Stampin' Pastels and use a little Pretty in Pink to highlight the words of the sentment. I really like how this looks!
