Kitchen Sink Monday: Ring in the New Year

It's time for another Kitchen Sink Stamps Monday. This week's challenge is brought to us by Dee. She challenged us to create a project with the theme "ring in the new year."

Initially, I thought about using bells, but, as you can see, I ended up going in a totally different direction. I started with a piece of festive Heidi Swapp striped patterned paper and chose the colors for my card based on that. I used my Playful Numbers set to create a (short) countdown, like the one that happens just before midnight. The numbers are stamped in Real Red craft ink on Soft Sky cardstock and punched out with a 1 1/4" square punch. I layered them on a coordinating red panel, then added a small chipboard star as an embellishment.

I created a scallop edged Taken with Teal panel for the bottom of the card. I stamped the "happy new year" sentiment (minus the "'s" from "year's") from Ready 4 Any Holiday in white pigment ink, then heat embossed the words in white for a bold look.
