One Piece of Paper--Two Cute Cards

I had a chance to do two SCS challenges tonight, both from one half sheet of cardstock and both using DoodleFactory images from Starving Artistamps.

This one is for today's technique challenge. It's a twist on the faux silk technique. The elephant image is underneath the "silk" tissue paper layer. I stamped it on Pink Pirouette cardstock and added dots from the SA polka dot background for a fun touch. The tissue was layered over a Soft Sky panel and set on the panel so the image stamped on the tissue lined up just right with the elephant image.

I placed the image panel on a Riding Hood Red 4 1/4" square card. I used the pretty background stamp to pretty up the Pink Pirouette panel along the bottom of the card and added a strip of striped ribbon. A ghost heart is on the image panel as an embellishment. I used the "wild about you!" sentiment from the Country sentiment set #2.

Materials Used:
DoodleFactory Animal Set-Percy the elephant (Starving Artistamps), Country sentiment set #2, polka dot background, pretty background (Starving Artistamps); Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette Classic inks, Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, and Soft Sky cardstock, Riding Hood Red striped grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals (Stampin' Up!); ghost heart (Heidi Swapp); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); tissue paper, glue stick

And, here's the second card, made for today's special holiday challenge to create a holiday-themed "scrapling." A scrapling is a tiny card made from the piece of cardstock that's left over when a 5 1/2" by 4 1/4" card is cut down to a 4 1/4" square card. So cute and so quick and easy to make!

My card uses the candy cane image from the DoodleFactory Santa's Sweet Shoppe stamp set. The candy canes are colored with Copic markers, then covered with a light coating of Angel Wings Shimmers for some sparkle. I layered the image panel on a piece of pink cardstock, then attached it to the scrap-ling base. I inked just the word "sweet" from one of the matching sentiments and stamped it along the bottom edge of the card. I paper pierced below it to draw attention to the word. I'll definitely be trying some more of these cute little guys!

Materials Used:
DoodleFactory Santa's Sweet Shoppe stamp set and sentiment (Starving Artistamps); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); white cardstock (Xerox); markers (Copic Ciao); Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette cardstock, Basic Black marker, Pretty in Pink grosgrain ribbon, mat pack and paper piercing tool (Stampin' Up!); Angel Wings Shimmerz (i {heart} papers)
