Here’s a look at the card I’m giving my mom tomorrow for Mother’s Day. I used the colors from
Kristina’s latest color challenge to get this combination of Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Rose Red, and white for my card. Maybe not the most traditional "mom" colors, but I like how my card turned out.
I used my Nestabilities heart die to cut a heart shape from a cardboard/chipboard scrap. I covered the piece with Rose Red Craft ink and set it aside to dry. While it was drying, I used my SU! Billboard Alphabet die to cut out the word “mom” from a scrap of shimmery white cardstock and a pair of brackets to frame it from a scrap of More Mustard cardstock.
I embossed a Chocolate Chip cardstock panel with my Swiss Dot embossing folder and layered it on a More Mustard card base. After the ink on the heart dried (with a little help from my heat gun . . .), I attached the word and the brackets to the heart, then adhered it to the cardfront. I found a rose button in my collection and threaded a scrap of white ribbon through the buttonholes as embellishment, the attached it to the cardfront, too.
Materials Used:
Rose Red Craft ink, Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, and Shimmery White cardstock, Billboard Alphabet die, white grosgrain ribbon (Stampin’ Up!); button (Papertrey Ink); Swiss Dot embossing folder (Cuttlebug); heart die (Nestabilities)This is another color challenge card, this time for
Dawn's latest Raspberry Suite color challenge. The colors in her challenge were dark gray, medium pink, bright pink, and white. I made a clean and simple card using the challenge colors.
I used the heart border stamp from
Papertrey Ink's Around & About Sentiments set to stamp a repeated pattern on a panel of PTI's Raspberry Fizz cardstock in matching Raspberry Fizz ink. I tied a piece of Raspberry Fizz grosgrain around the panel, then layered it on white and Hibiscus Burst panels before attaching it to the gray card base.
I found a big package of bright K & Company die cut cardstock pieces on a recent trip to Michaels and dug out one that was a good match for PTI's Hibiscus Burst cardstock. This one has lots of shimmer and a white heart at the center, the perfect spot for a sentiment. I stamped the "love" sentiment from Mega Mixed Messages along with the "u" from the "just because" sentiment inside the heart with PTI's Smokey Shadow ink.
It's almost time for hockey (again!), so I'm heading off to get comfy in front of my TV. Go Caps!
Materials Used:
Around & About Sentiments and Mega Mixed Messages stamp sets, Smokey Shadow and Raspberry Fizz Palette inks, Raspberry Fizz and Hibiscus Burst cardstock, Raspberry Fizz grosgrain ribbon (Papertrey Ink); Basic Gray cardstock (Stampin' Up!); glitter die cut (K & Company-Carolyn Gavin Greenhouse line); white cardstock (Georgia Pacific)
