Polished Pair and a Cheer
This afternoon I had a chance to take a look at the latest video on Stamp TV. It was on the polished stone technique, so I decided to give it a quick try.
I used SU!'s Baja Breeze and Pacific Point inks along with Ranger's silver mixative for my pretty background. The blue's a little darker than I would have liked it to be in the end, but still nice. I stamped the silhouette image from Gina K's Eclectic Summer set over the panel in black ink, then cut out the panel with an oval die.
To keep the attention on the image, I kept the rest of my card simple. I matted the image on a pair of ovals, then added a silver panel at the bottom of the matted oval. I tied an elegant black satin ribbon around the silver panel, then attached a Baja Breeze panel with "happy anniversary" stamped on it to the bottom of the silver panel. I set everything on a Pacific Point panel, embossed with the D'Vine Swirl embossing folder to pick up on the movement of the waves in the image.
Materials Used:
Eclectic Summer and A Charmed Life stamp sets (Gina K Designs); Pacific Point Classic ink, Baja Breeze and Pacific Point reinkers, Pacific Point, Baja Breeze, Basic Black, and Glossy White cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Noir Black ink (Palette); oval and scalloped oval dies (Nestabilities); silver paper, black satin ribbon (Target); silver metallic mixative (Ranger); D' Vine Swirl embossing folder (Cuttlebug)
And, I also made a card for this week's sketch challenge on Stamp TV. Circle shaped cards are a challenge for me, but I think it's good to try something outside my comfort zone, at least once in a while!
I used Melanie's Sporty Accessories set for my card. The cheerleader outfit is stamped twice, once on the circle panel on the cardfront and once on a scrap of paper. I colored the one on the scrap, cut it out, and attached it to the panel with dimensionals. I stamped the "cheer up!" sentiment in matching red ink.
The pom pom in front of the cheerleader outfit was a last minute addition. I actually made this card before the polished stone card, then set it aside. I looked at it again and decided it was missing something. I stamped the pom pom on a scrap, colored it, cut it out (that was slow!), then attached it to the card with a dimensional. Fun!
Materials Used:
Sporty Accessories stamp set (Gina K Designs); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Riding Hood Red Classic ink, Riding Hood Red and Basic Black cardstock, mat pack and paper piercing tool, silver brads, 1 1/4" circle punch, dimensionals (Stampin' Up!); 1 1/2" circle punch (EK Success); circle and scalloped circle dies (Nestabilities); silver paper (Target)
