Unity Addicts Challenge: Summer's Here

Here's my card for this week's Unity Addicts challenge. I was the challenge chooser this week. Since summer has finally arrived here (the signature DC area heat, humidity, and thunderstorms have finally shown up over the past few days . . .), I challenged the group to create something with a summer theme--summer images, summer colors, summer whatever!

I think this whale image from Mixup of Cuteness is adorable--but I don't think I've ever used it before. It's the perfect image for a summery card.

I colored the image with Copic markers and cut it out. I used a border punch to create some wave strips that I layered with dimensionals. The whale is set in the waves to create a mini ocean scene. I stamped the whale image on the cardfront, too, and filled in the water coming from its spout with a sparkly Stardust pen.

I added some red grosgrain ribbon underneath the wave strips and some coordinating striped paper to fill in the bottom of the card. The sentiment's on a small oval panel--now that I look at it again, I probably should have made it a cloud shape . . .

You can find links to the rest of the Unity Addicts blogs in the sidebar on the right.
