Birthday Picnic

The super-talented Adela is our hostess for this week’s Paper Craft Planet sketch challenge. She shared a great sketch--and a gorgeous card--for the challenge.

Here’s my version of the sketch. I used images from Papertrey Ink’s Vintage Picnic set. Anyone who knows me knows that there’s nothing vintage at all about my style. I’m pretty much a modern style girl all the way. But, there was something about these images that really caught my eye. And, I loved the font and the variety of messages in both this set and the matching sentiment set—I think that might have been what sold me in the end.

The picnic basket is paper pieced using a piece of patterned paper from the My Mind’s Eye Bloom and Grow collection. I used 4 different patterns from this collection on my card. That’s a lot of pattern, but keeping it from the same collection helps it to coordinate nicely. The flowers are colored with Copic markers and embellished with a tiny bit of Yellow Stickles at their centers. I added a coordinating button-embellished bow to the bottom of the panel and a tiny ribbon tab, also decorated with a button, to the sentiment.

I hope you'll play along with us. If you do, upload your card with the tag sk071809 so it can be moved to this week's sketch challenge gallery.
