Happy Birthday to One of My Peeps

Here’s the card I gave to my best friend for her recent birthday. It’s based on this week’s Mojo Monday sketch, which wasn’t my intent when the card was started, but was what it evolved into as I played with the pieces.

I used the Hangin with My Peeps set from My Favorite Things for the focal image. I colored Who’s that Girl and her trio of feathered friends with Copic markers and added some teeny, tiny dots of Liquid Pearls to make an elegant pearly necklace.

I covered most of the Kiwi Kiss card base with some October Afternoon designer paper. I used the reverse side of the paper for the smaller panel that’s next to the image panel. A piece of teal satin ribbon divides the patterned paper from the smaller solid panel along the bottom of the card. Now that I’m looking at this again, I probably should have done some embossing or stitching along the bottom edge of this panel . . . I added the “getting older” sentiment on a pair of layered circles to complete the card.

Materials Used:
Hanging with My Peeps stamp set (My Favorite Things); white Pure Luxury cardstock (Gina K Designs); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Taken with Teal Classic ink, Taken with Teal, Kiwi Kiss, and Soft Sky cardstock, 1 3/8” circle punch, dimensionals (Stampin’ Up!); designer paper (October Afternoon); 1 ½ circle punch (EK Success); teal satin ribbon (Michaels); Silver Pearl Liquid Pearls (Ranger)
