Join Me in a Game of Tic Tac Toe?
It’s summertime and kids (and parents) are on vacation from school and looking for things to do. With this in mind, I thought it would be fun to do something super kid-friendly for this week’s Paper Craft Planet 3d challenge. So, for this week's challenge, we’re making tic tac toe games. They’re quick and easy to do and provide hours of entertainment.
Here’s a really simple version to try. It’s just a pair of cardstock circles (a large scalloped circle and a slightly smaller regular circle) with a 3X3 grid drawn on with a permanent marker. I attached a medium weight chipboard circle coaster to the back to make the game board a little sturdier. You could probably run it through a laminator, too, to make it stronger.
I stamped a solid flower image from the Happy Birthday Cupcake set from Kitchen Sink Stamps inside each of the grid’s squares to decorate it just a little. The game pieces are made from a slightly smaller flower image stamped on a white circle, punched out and layered on a coordinating circle, then glued to a flat-bottomed marble (from the craft store's floral department). I find that a clear glue like SU!’s Crystal Effects holds pretty well.
I have links to tutorials and/or photos on my blog of two other versions if you want to try something a little more complex. This post shows how to make a tic tac toe board using a plain white ceramic tile, like the ones found in bathroom shower stalls (very inexpensive!). This post shows a tic tac toe board housed in an altered CD tin.
I hope you (and your kids) will play along this week. Upload your creations to the PCP gallery using the tag 3d19 so I can add them to the album. Have fun!
Materials Used:
Happy Birthday Cupcake stamp set (Kitchen Sink Stamps); Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry Classic inks, Melon Mambo and So Saffron cardstock, ½” and ¾” circle punches, mat pack and paper piercing tool, Crystal Effects (Stampin’ Up!); permanent marker (Sharpie); flat-backed marbles; medium weight chipboard coaster
