Monster Match

Here's an idea for a fun way to use the Chicken Girl Designs Silly Monsters stamp set from i {heart} papers. I altered a plain CD tin to be "home" to a Monster Match game, a version of the classic Memory game that's perfect for playing at home with your little monster fans .

I covered a simple metal tin with some fun patterned paper from the October Afternoon Night Light collection kit (it's on sale now!). These papers are a great match for the monster images! I used the a different piece of patterned paper and some of the stickers included in the collection kit to make a label for the outside of the container. I added a button embellished bow made from some light blue faux suede ribbon for a little dimension and interest.

I stamped each of the monsters twice on white cardstock circles cut with Nestabilities dies. The monsters are colored with Copic markers and layered on a pair of scalloped circles, one solid and one from another piece of patterned paper from the Night Light line. The two layers of cardstock make the game pieces pretty sturdy.

The playing pieces are kept inside the tin when not in use. I used more of the patterned paper and some stickers and die cut pieces from the collection kit to decorate the inside to coordinate with the colors and patterns on the playing pieces.

This is a quick and easy project that can be adapted for use with lots of different stamp sets and themes. I can't wait to try it out with a little monster-loving friend!

Materials Used:

other: white cardstock (Gina K Designs); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Pacific Point cardstock (Stampin' Up!); cream button, twine (Papertrey Ink)
