Scenes from the Final Frontier
***Be sure to scroll down to see my project for this month's Take the Challenge from Clear & Simple Stamps.***
I have a pair of cards using images from the DoodleFactory Final Frontier set from Starving Artistamps to share today.
This one’s an easel card for this week’s challenge at Crazy for Challenges. If you don’t know how to make one of these, there’s a great tutorial here at Paper Craft Planet.
I put the brightly colored Zega on a 3-D moon that I created by layering two circles. The top layer has some ½” circles randomly punched out to add texture. I added some sparkly stars to the scene’s background with Yellow Stickles.
The bottom section of the easel is decorated with a panel with a star border. It has the set’s “wish you were here” sentiment stamped on it.
Materials Used:
DoodleFactory Final Frontier set (Starving Artistamps); white cardstock (Gina K Designs); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Brocade Blue Classic ink, Crushed Curry and Brocade Blue cardstock, ½” circle punch, blue grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals (Stampin’ Up!); Classic Stars border punch (Martha Stewart); Yellow Stickles (Ranger); Enchanted Evening button (Papertrey Ink)
This one also features a moon, but done in a completely different way. Here, I used masks to sponge in the moon and sky. I cut a 4” square of white copy paper, then cut out a moon-shaped piece from one corner. I placed the larger piece copy paper on the white cardstock as a mask and sponged in the moon, then lifted the copy paper and set the moon shaped piece of copy paper over the sponged in moon, then used blue ink to fill in the sky. Quick and easy!
I added the spaceship image with the small version of the Vork image set inside, overlapping the moon image a bit. The sentiment is stamped on the moon portion of the scene using blue ink. I added a single silver brad as an accent.
Be sure to keep your eyes on the Starving Artistamps blog for a big announcement coming soon, especially if you’re a Doodle Factory fan . . . And, don't forget that Inking Aloud readers can always use the code savetenLT to save 10% on DoodleFactory and Starving Artistamps stamp purchases at Starving Artistamps.
Materials Used:
DoodleFactory Final Frontier set and Urban #2 sentiment set (Starving Artistamps); white cardstock (Gina K Designs); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Brocade Blue, So Saffron, and More Mustard Classic inks, Brocade Blue, Kiwi Kiss, and Whisper White cardstock, sponge, silver brad, dimensionals (Stampin’ Up!)
