Vanilla Chocolate Plum Birthday

Here's my card for this month's final Viva la Verve challenge. The twist to go along with this sketch was a color challenge--vanilla, chocolate, and purple. It took me a while to figure out how to balance the colors and decide on images, but in the end, I like what I came up with for this one.

I inked up part of one of the sentiments from Verve's Wishing You set for the large sentiment panel using Elegant Eggplant ink. The edges of the vanilla panel are inked with Chocolate Chip ink for a more distressed, vintage look.

I found a piece of purple on purple striped paper in a DCWV paper pad to use for the cardfront. A piece of plum paper, edged with a punched daisy border goes across the cardfront with a Chocolate Chip ribbon knotted around it. The sentiment panel is layered over the bottom edge of the plum panel, just underneath the ribbon. I stacked a trio of American Crafts felt flowers, securing them with a sparkly brad, and added that to the card at the corner of the sentiment panel. I've had these flowers on a shelf for a while now--it's about time I used some of them!

Materials Used:
Wishing You stamp set (Verve Stamps); Elegant Eggplant and Chocolate Chip Classic inks, Perfect Plum and Very Vanilla cardstock, Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon, sponge, rhinestone brad (Stampin' Up!); designer paper (DCWV's Nana's Nursery Baby Boy); Daisy border punch (Martha Stewart); felt flowers (American Crafts)
