A Mug Full of Get Well Wishes

It’s the first of the month and time for a new template reveal from Clear & Simple Stamps. Each month, CSS shares a brand new, free template on its website. For this month, Sue has created an easy to assemble mug, perfect for holding seasonal gifts and other goodies, too. You can find the template here.

Before I get to my sample using the template, I want to fill you in on the special deals going on this month at CSS. First, the Stamp of the Month is Cup of Cocoa, available now. You can use the code DTBlog1209 for a $1 discount on this great seasonal set. And, December’s featured Copic marker bundle is the Copic Trio Set: Earth 6 (E71, E74, E79). You can combine the Copic Marker Bundle with the SOTM for the bargain price of $26 - that's a $15 stamp set and $15 Copic Marker Trio set combined at a $4 reduction in price - you won't find a better bundle anywhere! HINT HINT...it will will be $25 if using the DTBlog $1 discount, too.

Now, here’s my take on this month’s template. My mug features a preview of two new sets—the SOTM Cup of Cocoa and the Beary Well set that will be available later on in December with the rest of the Well Wishes release. I made my mug into a get well gift, containing one of those Soup to Go cans (“stolen” from a co-worker after she’d finished her lunch—I promise!).

I decided to try to mirror the look of the soup can in my design. The mug is made from blue cardstock with red accents. I added scalloped borders around the top and bottom of the mug and a bright red ribbon on the handle.

I stamped the dot image from the Dots & Lines set in red ink on a red strip and wrapped that around the center of the mug. I combined the label/frame image from Cup of Cocoa with one of the sentiments from Beary Well to make a label to decorate the mug.

I had another idea for the mug template, but Cosmo the crazy dog enjoyed chewing on the gloves I got to use for my project, so we’ll see if I can still pull it off. He sees the red reusable Target bag and thinks that he can root around inside it and take whatever he’s interested in, whether or not it’s meant for him . . .

Materials Used:
Beary Well, Cup of Cocoa, and Dots & Lines stamp sets, ScorPal, ScorTape (Clear & Simple Stamps); Real Red and Bashful Blue Classic inks, Real Red and Bashful Blue cardstock, scallop edge punch, red organdy ribbon (Stampin’ Up!); circle, scalloped circle, and oval dies (Nestabilities); paper piercing tool, foam tape
