Bellarific Boy Birthday

Here’s my card for this week’s Bellarific Friday from Stamping Bella. This week’s card is based on a great sketch from Shannan.

I needed a break from all things Valentine, so I did a little boy’s birthday card. I colored cutie robot KiloWatt with Copic markers. It’s hard to see in the photo, but I added some silver gel pen embellishments, too. The embossed panel behind KiloWatt is made by running heavy duty tin foil through the Big Shot with my Stars embossing folder. This is such a fun way to add shine and texture. It seemed like a good match for a robot.

I had this gear patterned paper in my stash. The pattern and bold colors worked great with the robot image. The paper’s from Scenic Route. I really like their papers and was disappointed to learn that they’re shutting down . . . I added the “happy birthday” sentiment in black ink on the red strip across the cardfront, accented with a single silver brad. I left off the trio of embellishments along the left side of the card—they would have gotten lost in the pattern anyway. And, Shannan never sticks to a sketch anyway, so I figured it would be okay with her—LOL!

Materials Used:
KiloWATT and happy birthday sentiment (Stamping Bella); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Night of Navy and Riding Hood Red cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); designer paper (Scenic Route); Stars embossing folder (Cuttlebug); oval dies (Nestabilities); silver brad (Making Memories); silver gel pen
