Puppy Love

This month’s Kitchen Sink Crew challenge is to use masking on your project. Lots of Kitchen Sink images lend themselves beautifully to this technique. I went with a pair of images that might not immediately come to mind for my challenge project.

I started with the small solid heart image from the Love & Luck stamp set. The heart was stamped in red, then masked with a sticky note. I stamped the cute dog image over top in shades of brown (Step 4-Chocolate Chip, Step 3-Close to Cocoa, Step 2-Creamy Caramel, Step 1-Creamy Caramel, stamped off once), then removed the sticky note mask. It looks like the dog is holding the heart in its paws--too cute!

I paired the puppy with a bold argyle patterned paper from a DCWV Valentine paper pack. I kept the rest of the layout simple since it would be hard for anything else to compete with the argyle pattern. I added a strip of red grosgrain ribbon, accented with a small heart brad, and a paper pierced rose strip directly on the argyle paper panel, then layered the matted image over the strips.

Materials Used:
Love & Luck, Multistep Kitten and Pup (Kitchen Sink Stamps); Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, and Creamy Caramel Classic inks, Real Red, Regal Rose, and Very Vanilla cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); designer paper (DCWV-Madly in Love Stack); circle die (Nestabilities); red grosgrain ribbon (Michaels); heart brad (Making Memories); foam tape
