Something Spring-y
It’s time for a new sketch challenge at Paper Craft Planet. Kim provided us with a sketch that’s great for some of those smaller images that can be hard to use on a card.
Even though this sketch lends itself well to using a small image, I ended up not using a small one! Instead, I used just a portion of a larger leafy branch image from Papertrey Ink’s Turning a New Leaf stamp set on the three green panels. The image is stamped in coordinating green ink, then punched out with a 1 ¼” square punch.
I was going for a soft, spring look for my card, so I paired the green panels with shades of pink. Each green square is backed with a bold pop of pink. I went back and added some small flower images to each branch in coordinating pink ink. The center of each tiny flower is dotted with a little Petal Pink Liquid Pearls for some dimension.
The other 3 small squares on the cardfront are pale pink and embossed with a flower pattern. I used the same bold pink to mat them, then attached all the squares to a pale pink panel. A piece of bold pink satin ribbon runs along the length of the card, accented with a button embellished bow. I went back and forth between using the bold pink or the soft green for the card base before finally settling on the green.
If you have a chance to play along, upload your card to the PCP gallery with the keyword sk030610 so that it can be added to the album with the rest of this week’s creations.
Materials Used:
Turning a New Leaf and Floral Fusion stamp sets, Hibiscus Burst and Spring Moss inks, Hibiscus Burst, Spring Moss, and Sweet Blush cardstock, Hibiscus Burst satin ribbon, Hibiscus Burst button, twine (Papertrey Ink); Flowers embossing folder (QuicKutz); Pink Petal Liquid Pearls (Ranger); 1 ¼” and 1 3/8” square punches (EK Success)
